Biography
French classical music composer and music critic who won the Prix de Rome for composition in 1872. Also a pianist and organist, he wrote operas, ballets and biblical symphonies. He became Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1880. He died on 17 May 1916 in Ramonville-Saint-Agne at age 68.
