Biography
French singer-songwriter widely known for his duets, "Regrets" with Mylène Farmer (1991), "Madame Deshoulières with Isabelle Huppert, and "Ce Que Tu Désires" with Carla Bruni (2005). He also released many solo albums. As an actor, he played in "Mademoiselle Personne" with Elodie Bouchez.
The son of Robert Bergheaud, a carpenter, he was raised in a farm by his grandparents near Murat-le-Quaire and his adopted name was also inspired by that of Joachim Murat, Marshal of Napoleon. He was born the same day as Welsh singer Michael Jones.
His interests included painting, cycling, soccer, History and Buddhism. Murat died from heart failure on 25 May 2023 at the age of 71 in Orcival, Auvergne.
