Biography

American politician on the rise, Linda Dorcena Forry won a chance to bid on Tom Finneran's old house seat in the primary election held in Boston, MA on March 15, 2005. Born to Haitian immigrant parents, she is a hard-worker with a drive to succeed. Most recently, she has been working as the executive assistant to Director of Housing. Linda is married to Bill Forry, managing editor of The Dorchester Reporter, a weekly newspaper, and The Mattapan Reporter, a monthly. The newspapers were started by Bill’s father Ed. The young couple has a son John Patrick in whom they are instilling good work ethic, pride in his mixed-race heritage and a respect for diversity. The Forry family heritage is white Irish-Catholic.

Dorcena Forry out-placed all other contenders in the city even in areas primarily inhabited with white voters. She is expected to win in the autumn elections. Her father-in-law Ed Forry, newspaper publisher, says: "Everyone loves Linda." Her late mother in law, Mary Forry, said when she first met Linda as a teen-ager: "That is the girl who is going to marry my son." The young couple had not even begun to date at that point but they married a few years later in June 2000. They have two children, John born in October 2003 and Conor born February 2007.
