Jean-Louis Pisuisse (Standing at right with his wife Jenny Gilliams)

Biography

Dutch jourmalist, singer and cabaret performer, a major pioneer, and for many the founder of Dutch cabaret.

Pisuisse married three times; in 1903 with Jacoba Smit, in 1913 with Fie Carelsen and in 1927 with Jenny Gilliams, a cabaret singer with whom he already had a relationship for several years.

Gilliams had a brief affair with another member of the group, Tjakko Kuiper, but eventually ended the relationship.

Kuiper apparently could not accept this and on 26 November 1927 he shot himself dead on the spot at the Rembrandtplein (Rembrandt Square) in Amsterdam after shooting Pisuisse and Gilliams, who both died later that day.
