Biography
German painter and graphic artist known primarily through his portrayal of German cityscapes in a historical perspective. For example, his twelve washed pen drawings in a series "Das Biedermeier-Kassel ca.1825-1838" (1926-1927) depict buildings in Kassel from 100 years before that had long since disappeared but were depicted by Metz according to old engravings, and animated by him with figures from those days.
Ernst Metz died on 25 December 1973 in Eschwege, aged 81.
