Biography
Princess of Bourbon-Parma by birth, as the eldest daughter of Roberto I, the last reigning Duke of Parma. She became Princess-consort of Bulgaria upon her marriage to Ferdinando of Bulgaria, the then prince-regnant (who became Tsar after her death). She was the mother of Tsar Boris III of Bulgaria.
Suffering from pneumonia, Marie Louise died in Sofia, aged 29, at 11:05 AM on 31 January 1899, twenty four hours after giving birth to her fourth child.

Fürstin Maria Louise von Bulgarien ist heute vormtttags um 11 Uhr gestorben — vierundzwanzig Stunden nach ihrer gestern enfolglen Entbindung. Sophia, 31. Januar. Fürstin Maria Louise lag seit gestern Abends in Agonie. Ihr Zustand wurde jedoch in der Oeffentlichkeit nicht bekannt. Heute Morgens wurde die Fürstin bei Bewußtsein mit deu Sterbesacrammtm versehm, dann wurdm die Kinder zum Abschied zugelassen. Um 11 Uhr 5 Minuten entschlief die Fürstin sanft."
