Biography
Salvadoran poet, scientist, educator and composer. Her early compositions exhibited at the magazine Spiral (1919-1922). In 1924 she married the Chilean sociologist Agustín Venturino who bore a daughter: Alice Gabriela, a fact that led her to be out of the country for half a century; nevertheless, she was a contributor to the newspaper Patria (1928) from Buenos Aires. She belonged to various scientific and literary organizations, including: the Society of Geology and Geography of France; Academy of Science of Cordoba, Spain; Cultural center of Ica, Peru; Ateneo de El Salvador; Pan American Round Table, etc. She was also honored by the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador in 1976, the Mayor of San Salvador, and the Directorate General of Post, among others. The 27 October 1979 she was awarded the title of Women of the Americas (1979-1980) by the Union of American Women in New York.
She died on 13 October 1983.
