Biography
Brazilian filmmaker, videomaker and screenwriter, who gained acclaim with his screenplay for the 1997 film Baile Perfumado (Perfume Ball), directed by Lírio Ferreira, telling the troubled life of the Syrian-Lebanese immigrant Benjamin Abrahão Botto. He also made several video clips for musicians, and worked with filmmakers and actors such as Cláudio Assis, Kiko Goifman and Matheus Nachtergale.
Lacerda studied journalism at the Catholic University of Pernambuco and Arts Education at the Federal University of Pernambuco, but did not complete either course. His initiation into cinema came in 1988 as assistant to Lily Ferreira in O Crime da Imagem (The Crime of the Image).
The filmmaker also participates in the production of television programmes, particularly documentaries. An example is the short film O Pernambuco de Antônio Nóbrega, made in collaboration with other filmmakers, and screened by Tv Cultura.
