Biography
Venezuelan general and politician. Was War Minister during the government of Juan Vicente Gómez and, afterwards, became President of Venezuela from 1935 to 1941.
In 1939, Contreras accepted in Venezuela the ships "Koenigstein" and "Caribia" which fled from Germany, having Jews on board.
