Biography
Italian pediatrician and medical researcher whose studies focused mainly on infectious conditions (confirmation of the etiology of the leishmaniasis parasite, vaccine therapy of typhoid, paratyphoid, melitense infection) and nutrition (infant nutrition disorders).
In 1893 he became Director of the Pediatric Clinic in Palermo. He held this position until 1914 when he left it to his pupil Giovanni Di Cristina and took up the same role in Naples. In 1929 the new Pediatric Clinic in Naples was inaugurated under his direction.
He died on 24 March 1949, aged 82, in Naples.
