Biography
French anthropologist and ethnologist. An Emeritus Research Director at the 'Centre national de la recherche scientifique' (CNRS), he was a member of the Social Anthropology Laboratory (Collège de France, EHESS, Paris) from its founding in 1960 by Claude Lévi-Strauss.
He died on 1 February 2012 in Paris.
