Biography
British mystic and Kabbalist, who wrote under the name's Zadok and ARH.
He spent his childhood in Somerset, where he had his first views on the Glastonbury Tor. At age 17, when flying during WWI over Belgium in a bi-plane, he was shot down and his spine was severely injured. In 1922 he was given a short time lo live by the Oxford surgeon Sir Farquhar Buzzard. He decided to find a cure for himself in more spiritual ways.
For several years he was active for the British Intelligence services, travelling to the Holy Land, Africa, and Austria. In 1940 he directed the Fire Services for the Buckingham Palace area, which brought him to contact with king George VI. He took the initiative for the National Day of Prayer during the Blitz by convincing the king.
During WW2, he was secretary of the The British-Israel-World Federation and editor of The National Message. In 1943 he was fired from The National Message, because of his spiritual activities. He was indeed involved in magical acts intended to oppose Hitler and the Nazi movement. From 1944 till 1948 he was secretary of the Garden Tomb Jerusalem Association, that aimed to preserve the presumed tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. In 1948 the Jewish state was took over the responsibility.
In the fifties he became bed ridden because of paralysis of the limbs as a result of his former spinal injury. He settled with his partner Polly Wood in Somerset. He met leading esotericists of the 20th century and was befriended with Sir George Macaulay Trevelyan and Major Wellesley Tudor Pole. He learned about grail mythology and opened the Sanctuary of Avalon, near Glastonbury in 1959.
He died 10 February 1980.
In September 2012 his student, the musician and mystic Robert John Stewart (1949) published his biography: The Hidden Adept and the Inner Vision: Story of Ronald Heaver, Polly Wood and Sanctuary of Avalon.
