Biography
Brazilian physicist, professor and researcher noted as one of the pioneers of popular science in Brazil. Working in several areas of physics, she carried out research into the epistemology and history of science, motivated by her interest in teaching physics and preserving the memory of science in Brazil.
She was the sister of scenographer, architect and artist Flávio Império. In 1956 she married fellow physicist Ernst Wolfgang Hamburger, with whom she had five children, including filmmaker Cao Hamburger. She died in São Paulo on 1 April 2011 at the age of 78.
