Biography
Italian Royal family, the daughter of Isabella d'Este and Francesco Gonzaga of Mantua. Her parents had hoped for a son and she was not put into the special rooms that had been prepared; from the time of her birth she was not favored. The evidence historically points to severe disagreements between Leonora and her mother as their letters to each other always had a coldness; they never cared for each other. Though her beauty did not match that of her mother, they were painted together by Titian. Leonora married Francesco della Rovere of Urbino. the nephew of Pope Julius.
