Biography
Portuguese writer, a poet and a political activist. With a degree in law his initial job was at the consul's office in Norway. Upon returning home he began working as a journalist. He put his writing talents to work in the resistance movement opposing the regime of Antonio Salazar. In addition he published several of his books and poems, earning the Portuguese Writers' Society 1961 prize for poetry.
He died on 8 February 1985 in Lisbon, Portugal, aged 84.
