Biography
American film producer from 1914; noted for spectacular productions with giant settings and casts of thousands. In 1949 he received a special award for 35 years of motion picture pioneering. "The Greatest Show on Earth" won the Oscar in 1952; other films include "The Ten Commandments" and "The Sign of the Cross."
Died of heart disease 21 January 1959, Hollywood, CA.
