Biography
German prince from the House of Wettin and the Archbishop-Elector of Trier from 1768 until 1803, the Prince-Bishop of Freising from 1763 until 1768, the Prince-Bishop of Regensburg from 1763 until 1769, and the Prince-Bishop of Augsburg from 1768 until 1812.
He died on 27 July 1812, aged 72, in Marktoberdorf, Allgäu.

Sy Scholfield forwarded news report from "Wiener Zeitung," 14 October 1739, p. 5: "Am 27. Sept. / als am Sonntage ftzatzierten Ihro Maj. die Königin noch sehr spat/ und lange in dem Garten dieses Schlosses/ und wurden den folgenden Tag frühe zwischen 4. / und 5. Uhr mit einem Printzen gluklich entbunden / worauf sogleich bey Hofe grosse Gala auf 3. Tage hinter einander angesaget wurde.' Man lösete die Stüke / und schikte Befehl nach Dreßden / um allda dergleichen zu thun/ und das Te Deum fingen zu lassen; und der Papstliche Nuntius/ der gegen Mittage anlangte/ tauffete einige Stunden hernach den neu-gebornen Printzen/ dem man die Namen Clemens/ Wenceslaus/ Hubertus/ Franciscus Xaverius/ beylegte."
(On 27 Sept., the Queen was still very late and long in her pregnancy in the garden of this palace, and the following morning was gloriously delivered between 4 and 5 o'clock of a prince, whereupon a great gala was called for three days. The newborn was named Clemens Wenceslaus Hubertus Franciscus Xaverius).
