Biography
French artist's model, the son of famous painter Paul Cézanne and his mistress Hortense Fiquet. His parents married on 28 April 1886 when Paul junior was 14 years old. His father died on 22 October 1906 when he was 34.
He was a close friend of Jean Renoir, 22 years his junior, and was considered by Auguste Renoir and his wife Aline as their son. A social figure of the 1920s, he married Renée Rivière, the daughter of Georges Rivière, and participated and helped in the production of films by Jean Renoir, with whom he shared an apartment at 30, rue de Miromesnil, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. His mother Hortense Fiquet died there on 3 May 1922.
Paul Cézanne junior died on 6 October 1947 at age 75.
In 2015, an 1872 painting by Cézanne showing Hortense Fiquet breastfeeding her son was rediscovered.
