Biography

American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church and Benedictine monk who served as the third Bishop of Memphis from 1987 until he was appointed the fifth Archbishop of Indianapolis from 14 July 1992. Pope Benedict XVI accepted his early resignation because of health problems on 21 September 2011.

Archbishop Emeritus Daniel M. Buechlein died shortly after midnight on 25 January 2018 at the St. Meinrad Archabbey infirmary at age 79.
