Biography

Costa Rican political and intellectual, Vice President from 1958 to 1962. Member of the drafting committee of the draft Constitution Policy 1948, owner by the province of San José (1949-1953) Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica (1952- 1953), first Vice President (1958-1962). temporarily he exerted the presidency of the Republic in 1961. He was a founder of the University of Costa Rica. He gave lessons in several schools and was Director of the Department of Cultural History in General Studies (1957-1964). Visiting professor at the University of Kansas.

He died on January 19, 1969.
