Biography
French actress, director and screenwriter who made her acting debut in Jean-Luc Godard's Two or Three Things I Know About Her (1967). She proceeded to appear in many of Godard's subsequent films, including La Chinoise (1967), Week End (1967), Le Gai Savoir (1969), and Vladimir et Rosa (1971). She later became a muse for the French New Wave director Jacques Rivette, starring in Out 1 (1971) and Celine and Julie Go Boating (1974).
In the 1980s she became a screenwriter and film director. Her film Cap Canaille (1983) was entered into the 33rd Berlin International Film Festival. In 1987, she was a member of the jury at the 37th Berlin International Film Festival.
She was married to director and actor Michel Berto, before living with Jean-Henri Roger with whom she made her first two feature films. Juliet Berto died of breast cancer at age 42 on 10 January 1990 in Breux-Jouy, France.
