THE MONTH OF APRIL - DARING A FRESH START

April brings a distinctly dynamic quality of time. The lively, communicative mood in the first third of the month provides welcome impulses in relationships and partnerships. This phase is followed by tense, high-energy days, which keep us on our toes with plenty of Aries fire. A conjunction of Mars and Saturn, as well as a planetary cluster in Aries at the time of the New Moon, calls for heightened attention. In the final third of the month, the ingresses of Venus and Uranus into Gemini bring a breath of fresh air to our thoughts and words.

THE CURRENT QUALITY OF TIME

The first days of the month shift the focus to relationships and partnerships. The Libra Full Moon on 2 April forms a tense aspect to Jupiter in Cancer. Mercury in Pisces trines Jupiter on 3 April. On the 4th the square between Venus in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius becomes exact, and on the 6th the Sun squares Jupiter.

The mood during these days is communicative and full of passion. It promises invigorating impulses in partnerships of every kind. The powerful surge of energy favors deep, sensual encounters in love relationships, as well as devoted artistic creation. Exaggeration, overconfidence, and a flair for drama could slow the flow a little.

With Mars entering Aries on 9 April, the quality of time becomes even more dynamic, but also more unpredictable, since for about two weeks it repeatedly makes contact with the outer planets. Thus, on 8 April, just before changing signs, Mars forms a sextile with Uranus. This is followed by a conjunction with Neptune on 13 April, a sextile with Pluto on 16 April, and a conjunction with Saturn on 20 April.

Mars acts as the spark for a development that could gain considerable momentum and demands heightened attention. The goal-oriented, impulsive energy of Mars in Aries, which prefers quick solutions, now has to contend with a variety of counterforces. It is advisable to take any resistance and ambiguity seriously and patiently look for solutions that do justice to the circumstances. Denial of reality can now create persistent conflicts that tie up energy for a long time. With foresight, courage, and discipline, however, great things can be achieved. What is built now has long-term potential.

Other planets also activate Aries themes during this period. Having passed the sextile to Uranus, Mercury enters Aries on 15 April. In addition, on 17 April there is a New Moon in Aries conjunct Chiron. Simultaneously, Mercury conjoins Neptune. Thus, the Sun, Moon, and Chiron are now in conjunction, and Neptune, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn form a powerful stellium in fiery Aries. Such a cluster of planets in one zodiac sign is rare, especially around the time of a Saturn-Neptune conjunction.

The quality of time is now full of tension and contains an archaic, wild component. For some, this is a welcome opportunity to embark on an adventure with an uncertain outcome or to spark a revolution. Even if you are quite content with your life, you may still feel a desire to set out. Dare a fresh start, even if you do not yet know exactly where the journey is headed. Trust your own strength and be ready to let go of the old.

On 20 April the Sun leaves Aries for Taurus, while Mercury, Saturn, and Mars remain in an exact conjunction in Aries. The pressure to act could be considerable. Do what is necessary, but beware of blind activism. Instead, slow the pace, set priorities, and work as carefully as possible. On this day, hasty action can cause a lot of damage.

The final week of April holds considerable potential for surprises. Venus meets Uranus on 24 April right before entering Gemini. The Sun and Pluto form a square on 25 April. One day later, on 26 April, Uranus also enters Gemini. At the same time Venus is in sextile with Neptune, and Mercury squares Jupiter in Cancer. On 28 April Venus and Pluto form a trine.

The meeting of Venus and Uranus, as well as their change of signs, brings a breath of fresh air not only to partnerships and relationships, but to all areas of human communication. New doors open. The mood becomes livelier and more outgoing, and perhaps one or another adventure beckons. The quality of time is favorable for all creative activities involving language.

If planets or angles in your chart are in the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra, or Capricorn, you will likely engage in one way or another with the effects of this extraordinary quality of time. Yet, strong impulses for growth also reach all the other zodiac signs and get things moving during these weeks. Be aware that the quality of time always manifests in a highly individual way.
