THE MONTH OF OCTOBER - WHEN THE TIDE RISES

The focus in October is on communication and emotions. At the beginning of the month you will need considerable sensitivity and patience; these qualities will help you harmonize the two areas, especially under the Aries Full Moon. Mid-month, relationship matters take centre stage, and your longing for self-realization grows stronger. The Libra New Moon invites you to dedicate yourself to beauty and harmony. The most intense phase arrives toward the end of the month, when a powerful water trine may set strong dynamics in motion, bringing consequences that are difficult to predict.

THE CURRENT QUALITY OF TIME

The astrological configurations in October promise an intense and eventful period. Pluto turns direct again mid-month, and toward the end of the month Neptune slips back into Pisces. Saturn and Uranus remain retrograde. During these weeks we will therefore revisit themes that have occupied us in recent months; they must now be reviewed once more and integrated. With the water signs strongly emphasized, emotions play a key role, especially in communication. All of the outer planets sit at either the very beginning or the very end of a zodiac sign, so any planet that changes signs falls under their influence and is charged with their energy.

In the first days of the month, however, Mercury takes center stage. On October 1, it forms a square from Libra to Jupiter in Cancer, and on October 3, it reaches an exact opposition to Chiron in Aries. Mercury, Chiron and Jupiter thus create a loose T-square. Mercury enters Scorpio on October 6 and squares Pluto on the 7th; at the same time it forms the apex of a Yod with Neptune and Uranus. That same day a Full Moon lights up Aries.

Mercury represents our rational, intellectual and communicative side; it is active in all exchanges with others. The tense aspects with Jupiter, Chiron and Pluto signal increased activity in the media, commerce and communication in general. Much must be discussed, yet mutual understanding may prove difficult. Messages are likely to be more emotionally charged than usual, and heightened sensitivities can hinder dialogue. When Mercury enters Scorpio and squares Pluto, harsh words may be exchanged. Guard against impatience, cynicism and exaggerated activism, especially during the Aries Full Moon.

On October 11, Venus in Virgo opposes Saturn in Pisces. She enters Libra on October 13 and opposes Neptune in Aries one day later. Venus also forms a trine to Uranus in Gemini and to Pluto in Aquarius. As in recent weeks, a configuration appears that combines a grand trine with two sextiles. All the slow-moving planets are involved. This pattern, called a Kite, offers many possibilities for realization. At the same time Pluto turns direct at 1°22' Aquarius.

The keyword for this phase is “longing.” What is still missing for you to be happy? What is waiting to be realized in your life? The focus now is on visions, dreams and spiritual needs, and on how you can live them more fully and weave them into your relationships. It is an excellent moment to discuss such matters within existing partnerships; doing so can initiate developments that expand or renew your shared path.

Your inner experience may also intensify now, giving you fresh confidence for your personal journey. Any vision or inner calling you receive during this period could prove essential to future events. Yet the contact between Venus and Neptune also warns of losing yourself in unrealistic ideals and rose-colored dreams. Take care not to confuse fantasy with reality.

On October 17 the Sun squares Jupiter. One day later the Sun opposes Chiron. Although the square between Jupiter and Chiron does not become exact until October 24, the T-square is already active. In this fertile and creative time, you can achieve much and bring forth great things. Whatever you now send out into the world will bear abundant fruit. The inner attitude with which you act is especially important: what you radiate will later return to you as a rich harvest. Act lovingly, sincerely and for the good of all.

October 21 brings a New Moon in Libra. The New Moon is still within orb of the T-square with Jupiter and Chiron. It is a good time to immerse yourself in the beautiful sides of life: attend a concert, visit a museum, or simply pick up a good book again. Bring beauty and harmony into your life and into the world. It is a strong and worthy answer to the chaotic forces of the time.

On October 22 the retrograde Neptune re-enters Pisces, where it will remain until January 26, 2026. It crosses the so-called “cosmic fissure” once again, as it did in March this year. During this period you may sense strange feelings of dissolution. If your energy is very low, give yourself permission to rest in silence.

The Sun enters Scorpio on October 23 and, during the transition, forms a Yod with Uranus and Neptune. On October 24 it squares Pluto, and Jupiter squares Chiron. Most of the planets are now in water signs. A grand water trine forms between October 24 and 28: Mercury, Mars and Lilith in Scorpio; Saturn and Neptune in Pisces; and Jupiter in Cancer. On October 29 Mercury trines Neptune, enters Sagittarius shortly after, and moves on to oppose Uranus. Mars forms a trine with Saturn.

The energy of these days is extraordinarily dense. The strong emphasis on water signs, combined with the grand trine, suggests that once things start to move, they will be hard to stop. Feelings and emotions play a central role; where they are suppressed, they may forcefully break through. This applies not only to personal life but also to collective events, which can assume powerful dimensions now.

Because Jupiter is involved, we can expect this period to bring positive developments in the end. First, however, a phase of chaos is possible, for Saturn and Neptune in Pisces again speak of great surrender and the difficulty of setting boundaries. The conjunction of Mars, Lilith and Mercury in Scorpio points to conflict; small provocations and disputes can now have considerable consequences and gain great momentum.

Water in motion is a mighty force that is hard to resist. If you suddenly find yourself swept up in a current of events, allow it to carry you for a while. It is wiser to wait until the waves have calmed.

The mundane transits of this month paint an impressive picture. Nevertheless, rest assured that, even in such times, your personal life follows its own itinerary.
