Astrodienst Newsletter October 2019

This is the monthly newsletter from Astrodienst with a short overview of the current quality of time and news from our website www.astro.com.

The current quality of time

Image: LibraThe basic atmosphere in October is tense, triggered by the squares that the Sun, Venus and Mars are forming to Pluto and Saturn in the course of the month. Subliminal fears can make clear action difficult during this time. On the 1st of the month Venus in Libra moves into a square to Pluto in Capricorn. We may critically question what is dear to us, and false harmony could suddenly become unbearable. Pluto ends its retrograde phase on October 3, and at the same time Mercury enters Scorpio. This can help to avoid getting stuck in diffuse fears, but to tackle what is necessary.

From October 7 things may get rather bumpy. Mercury in opposition to Uranus has (too) many ideas what could be done better. At the same time the Sun is square to Saturn in Capricorn and has all hands full with keeping things in balance. On October 8, Venus enters Scorpio and has to discard all her jewelry and beautiful appearance, and the Libra Mars, weakened by the Chiron opposition, struggles with overextension. Do not judge too severely during this time. Excessive demands on yourself as well as on others can now become just as much a problem as disappointed hopes.

Image: ScorpioThe Full Moon on October 13 on the Aries-Libra axis is square to Pluto. Some might now be tempted to assert their claims to power ruthlessly. Conflicts can hardly be avoided now. Beware of the victim role, because rotten compromises have unforeseen and long-term consequences. Stand by your light, but do not be afraid to show your weaknesses either. The strong energy of these days could well be used for a deep, personal process of clarification.

The New Moon of October 28 then follows the events of the October weeks like a bold exclamation mark. Sun and Moon in Scorpio are exactly opposite Uranus, and Mars is square to Saturn. The tension that has built up over the last few weeks is now about to unload. This could result in serious structural ruptures, but it could also clear the way for a new beginning.

The personal quality of time

Image: grand crossThe events of such a tense time will affect everyone in one way or another. If you have planets in the cardinal signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you are more strongly involved in the events. However, the personal handling of this depends on the basic structure of the birth horoscope and the influence of the current constellations on it. You can find more insights in the "Transits of the Year" by Robert Hand or the "Yearly Horoscope Analysis" by Liz Greene.

Arlan Wise: Mercury - The Writer's Friend

image: MercuryWe can think of Mercury as the planets' little brother. He is often seen as less important when talking about the planets since he doesn't have the power and reputation of the big boys. He is known by many names: Hermes, Thoth, the Lord of holy words, in Norse he is Loki, the Native Americans call him Coyote, He is Raven to the Eskimos, and Lugas, (god of trade who gives things back and forth) to the Celts. The Hellenistic astrologers called him "the twinkling one". Vedic mythology sees him as "the prince". He is Jung's puer aeturnus, the perpetual youth. He has a quality of agelessness. Read more...
