November 4: Venus sextile Jupiter + Sun conjunct Mercury in Scorpio
Relationship tensions can soften, making space for understanding and renewed connection.
Let the past settle and turn your attention back to what brings you joy.
Venus sextile Jupiter + Sun conjunct Mercury is the current quality of time
According to most astrological sources, Venus is often called the “Lesser Benefic.” This label is usually taken to mean two things: first, that the energies of Venus are uniformly positive and creative; second, that because Venus is one of two planets (the other being Jupiter) called “benefic,” those energies are uniformly “good.” Neither assumption is correct. There is no planet whose energies always operate for good, or for bad, for that matter. It is possible to abuse and distort the energies of every planet, just as it is possible to make even the most “malefic” (the opposite of benefic) work positively and creatively.
Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. If you subtract the Sun’s mass from the mass of the entire solar system, Jupiter makes up most of what remains. This physically dominant presence of Jupiter was recognized by the ancients because of its brightness, combined with the fact that it is the second slowest-moving of the seven traditional planets, after Saturn. Whether the ancients understood that this was somehow connected to Jupiter’s mass is not clear. However, in medieval terminology Jupiter was referred to as the second most ponderous planet after Saturn, and in Latin the word translated as “ponderous” means both slow and heavy. So the combination of its relatively slow orbital movement with its brightness gave the planet Jupiter, very early in the evolution of astrology, the title “King of the planets,” just as the god Jupiter (also known in Greek as Zeus, and in Babylonian as Marduk) was king of the gods.
The Sun is one of the most important planets in the natal chart. This is because the Sun represents both the principal physiological energy of the body and the psychological energy of the mind and soul. Its symbolism therefore has a very general quality. The ancients saw the Sun as the visible manifestation of the cosmic mind, known in Greek as Nous. For this reason, the Sun is associated with the idea of consciousness as light.
Mercury is both highly important and quite peculiar in traditional astrology. Mercury’s energies describe how anything that transmits or receives information communicates, including all living beings. But that is not the peculiar part. Mercury is also the only one of the traditional planets that can be either masculine or feminine, diurnal or nocturnal, or malefic or benefic. The last two terms require some explanation. Strictly speaking, there are no factors that are inherently malefic or benefic. What makes any factor in astrology seem “benefic” or “malefic” is the way, and the extent to which, we learn to handle the energies involved, especially those of the planets. It is our consciousness, or lack thereof, that determines whether any astrological factor works well or poorly for us. However, Mercury is peculiar in that it has no inherent tendency one way or the other.

October 30: Mercury square Mars

Mercury square Mars & Pluto is the current quality of time
Mercury is both highly important and quite peculiar in traditional astrology. It is traditional to regard Mars as the “Lesser Malefic.” While the transits of Mars are frequently difficult, this designation is inappropriate; it is far more indicative of the level of ego at which many people operate than of the intrinsic nature of Mars’s energy itself. It is called the “Lesser Malefic” because Saturn has the dubious distinction of being the “Greater Malefic.” The same comments that I have just made about Mars apply to Saturn as well.

October 28: Venus opposite Chiron
Vulnerability can become a doorway to healing in relationships.
Honest self-awareness creates space for deeper connection—or a necessary release.
Venus opposite Chiron is the current quality of time
According to most astrological sources, Venus is often called the “Lesser Benefic.” This label is usually taken to mean two things: first, that the energies of Venus are uniformly positive and creative; second, that because Venus is one of two planets (the other being Jupiter) called “benefic,” those energies are uniformly “good.” Neither assumption is correct. There is no planet whose energies always operate for good, or for bad, for that matter. It is possible to abuse and distort the energies of every planet, just as it is possible to make even the most “malefic” (the opposite of benefic) work positively and creatively.
Chiron, as half man, half beast, is seen as a link between the human and natural worlds. Further, his placement between Saturn and Uranus speaks to the integration of the outer teacher or authority and the inner wisdom. In the natal chart, Chiron is often said to represent a native’s deepest wounds, including past-life wounds that must be integrated and reconciled. Chiron in the horoscope and by transit can also relate to themes of spiritual teaching, healing, enlightenment, and wounding—either as the victim, the healer, or sometimes even as the perpetrator.

FULL MOON
IN TAURUS
Full Moon in Taurus
It is close to Chiron, opposite retrograde Venus and square Pluto. Venus is moving into the growing tension with Chiron, which becomes exact on the 28th. This powerful Full Moon configuration is the energetic climax of the month. It brings us into contact with a primal, wild force that stands in strong contrast to the more technocratic themes of Pluto in Aquarius. Have the courage to open yourself to these archaic forces, which are not so easily grasped by reason. They can lead you closer to your personal and transpersonal roots and thus enrich your life.
Within the tension between personal life circumstances and collective pressure for change, major differences and even open ruptures can now arise. In political and public discourse, the focus is on explosive issues connected with profound processes of social transformation. But in personal life and relationships too, it is advisable now to take a clearer position and not conceal any differences. The quality of time offers opportunities to get to the root of conflicts. Healing clarification creates the ground on which life can continue to unfold, whether together or alone.

October 25: Venus returns to Libra
Relationships once again become a mirror for balance, fairness, and equality.
Reconsider what a truly mutual connection means to you.
Venus returns to Libra is the current quality of time
According to most astrological sources, Venus is often called the “Lesser Benefic.” This label is usually taken to mean two things: first, that the energies of Venus are uniformly positive and creative; second, that because Venus is one of two planets (the other being Jupiter) called “benefic,” those energies are uniformly “good.” Neither assumption is correct. There is no planet whose energies always operate for good, or for bad, for that matter. Your ruling planet is Venus, the mythic goddess of love and beauty. Because of this, lots of people think Libra should be the easiest sign to understand. All you need is love, right? Wrong. Libra is an air sign. And air is concerned with ideals and principles above all else. Ah, love. Of course you think a lot about love. But the operative word here is think.

About the Author’s Perspective
Money and success are the two main promises of happiness in our society and culture. Those who are blessed with them usually have the necessary status so that they hardly need to worry about their livelihood. Nevertheless, the values associated with these promises are mostly predetermined by society and do not necessarily lead to personal happiness and well-being.

October 20: Venus square Pluto

Venus square Pluto is the current quality of time
According to most astrological sources, Venus is often called the “Lesser Benefic.” This label is usually taken to mean two things: first, that the energies of Venus are uniformly positive and creative; second, that because Venus is one of two planets (the other being Jupiter) called “benefic,” those energies are uniformly “good.” Neither assumption is correct. Pluto’s energies operate slowly and relentlessly, producing profound transformation. A fitting metaphor is the movement of tectonic plates across Earth’s surface. Not until the twentieth century did we realize that continental drift causes earthquakes and volcanoes. Historically, Pluto signifies long-term economic and social forces that work independently of conscious human intent, though our unconscious may channel them. Current examples (in 2018) include the mass displacement of people from Syria and other parts of the Middle East, the resulting terrorism and migrations, the sudden rise of populist movements in the United States and elsewhere, and, of course, climate change and its cascading effects.

Dolly Parton.
Although often pigeonholed as a sexy, cartoon-like character due to her trademark towering hair, flamboyant outfits and ample cleavage (excessive, larger-than-life Jupiter in Libra is the apex of her dynamic T-square), Dolly is primarily a songwriter – one of undeniable talent and depth, whose work is infused with a homespun honesty that has become one of her defining qualities. She is also an accomplished singer, businesswoman, actress and much more.
