Clare Martin was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and lived
in Africa until she was eight years old. Educated in England, she worked
for a number of different educational and government organisations
in Oxford, London and abroad before building up her own business at
home while her three children were young.
A change of direction occurred when she discovered
astrology and became a student with the Faculty of Astrological Studies,
gaining her Diploma in 1990. In the same year she started teaching
the history of astrology to Faculty Diploma students, and she has been
a London class tutor ever since, on both the Certificate and Diploma
courses and at the Faculty’s annual Summer Schools in Oxford.
During the 1990s Clare studied with the Centre for
Psychological Astrology and was a tutor for several years on the CPA’s
one-year Introduction to Psychological Astrology course. While undertaking
her CPA Diploma studies, she trained as a psychotherapist and gained
a Masters degree in Integrative Psychotherapy. She works in London
as a counsellor and as an astrological consultant, and has been a supervisor
and lecturer at the CPA for several years.
In 2000 Clare was elected President of the Faculty
of Astrological Studies. With a team of other Faculty tutors, she undertook
a major restructuring and rewriting project, redesigning the Faculty’s
courses and qualifications and using the latest technology to provide
the Faculty’s international body of students with improved access to
astrological education, up-to-date course material, one-to-one tuition
and professional qualifications.
