Accidental Dignities

In traditional and horary astrology planets have essential dignities by virtue of placements in their own signs (domiciles) or in specific degrees of other signs where they function well.

A planet benefits from accidental dignity when it conjuncts Jupiter or Venus (i.e., one of the benefics,) one of the chart angles (cf. Elevation), or perhaps a beneficial fixed star.
