Biography
German bobsledder from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s. Participating in two Winter Olympics as a member of the West German team, he won a total of four medals, with one gold (Two-man: 1972), one silver (Two-man: 1976), and two bronzes (Four-man: 1972, 1976).
Zimmerer also won nine medals at the FIBT World Championships with four gold medals (Two-man: 1973, 1974; Four-man: 1969, 1973), three silver medals (Two-man: 1970, Four-man: 1970, 1975), and two bronze medals (Four-man: 1971, 1973).
