American musician, folk singer and guitarist who originally started with The Limeliters, 1959-1963. Moving on to solo performances in Country Western, he established his reputation and in 1968, formed Stanyan Music Co. with Rod McKuen. He stayed active in the musical field with TV host appearances on various shows and award ceremonies.

Yarbrough lost his ability to sing due to complications from throat surgery at the age of 80. In his last year or so of life, he suffered from dementia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other health problems. Yarbrough died on 11 August 2016 from complications of dementia in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 86.
