Christian Wolff


German philosopher (surname less correctly Wolf; also known as Wolfius; ennobled as Christian Freiherr von Wolff), the most eminent between Leibniz and Kant. His main achievement was a complete oeuvre on almost every scholarly subject of his time. Wolff was the creator of German as the language of scholarly instruction and research, although he also wrote in Latin. He died on 9 April 1754. The mountain Mons Wolff on the Moon was named in his honor.

Translation: I was born on 24 January (which is also our king's birthday) in 1679 at 7:30 in the evening.

The date given is Gregorian calendar, which was introduced in Silesia in January 1584.
