Source Notes
Sy Scholfield has a 21-page document of Australian data compiled by Dennis Sutton giving Waters' data as above but with the year 1945 and the following source: "From him to Lois E. Ohlsen."
Waters gave his year of birth as 1945 early in his career but has since corrected it to 1948. In a profile he states, "My mother, Barbara, was born on the Caribbean island of Dominica.... She met my Scottish father, Russell, in the mid-1930s. He was a journeyman actor for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre....While he was away, Mum went to Lincolnshire, fell in love with a dashing pilot and married him. He was shot down while my mum was pregnant with my brother, Philip. But my father sought her out and they married and had four kids. My big sister Angela and I were born 20 months apart and were treated like twins" [1].
His mother's birth name was Beauchamp and the birth of his sister "Angela R. Waters" was registered in the April-June quarter of 1947 according to the England and Wales Civil Registration Index. John's entry seems to be missing, yet he was obviously born in 1948, as he states, 20 months after his sister.
