Belgian physician who treated children in South-East Asia, accompanying delinquents and helping AIDS patients. He is the author of a book on this subject, La Pagode aux enfants (1992).
Back home from Thailand, he was arrested on 20 January 1997. He confessed to sexual abuse of minors in the region, but claimed to have ended this activity on 13 April 1995, the date when Belgium banned “sex tourism”. Released, he was arrested on 24 January 1997, other testimonies contradicting his confession, and he was suspected of crimes that also took place in Belgium.
The proceedings against him were declared inadmissible on 25 September 1997 because there were no complaints from the victims or their families, nor any denunciation from the local authorities. He was acquitted.
