French philosopher, who succeeded Maurice Merleau-Ponty at the Collège de France from 1962 until his death on 16 January 2001. A friend of Michel Foucault, he supported his election at the Collège, and was also close to Michel Serres. Vuillemin was one of the first French philosophers to find interest in analytical philosophy.
