Biography
Italian leading lady internationally in demand throughout the '60s and the '70s. She made her debut in 1955 and her films include "La Notte," 1960, "The Red Desert," 1964, "Girl With A Pistol," 1969 and "The Pacifist," 1971. Vitti received a diploma from the Art Academy and began her career as a stage actress. Presenting herself in over 25 movies, she wrote, directed and co-produced some of her own productions and was the author of "Sette Sottane" released in 1993. Vitti won five David di Donatello Awards for Best Actress, seven Italian Golden Globes for Best Actress, the Career Golden Globe, and the Venice Film Festival Career Golden Lion Award. Monica Vitti died of complications from Alzheimer's disease on 2 February 2022 at the age of 90.
