German physician, pathologist, histologist, and professor at the University of Marburg.
He studied medicine in Bonn, Leipzig and Jena and received his doctorate in 1903 at the University of Leipzig. In 1907 he did his habilitation in General Pathology and Pathological Anatomy at the University of Leipzig. From 1913-1918 he was ao. Professor in Leipzig. From 1918 to 1923, he headed the Pathology Institute at the Westend Hospital in Berlin and was also head of the Social Hygiene Academy. Since 1923 he was Professor of General Pathology at the University of Marburg. There he was Rector in 1930/31 and Dean in 1932/33.
He died on 31 August 1947 in Marburg, aged 70.
