Belgian company director and liberal politician, originally trained as a brewing engineer in the family business. Having turned to politics, he became extra-parliamentary minister of economic affairs in the Gaston Eyskens III government (1958-1961) and its deputy (1949-1958; 1961-1964).

He was vice-governor of the Société générale de Belgique, president of Tractebel and Distrigaz, and president of the Friends of the Jules Bordet Institute. He died on 24 June 1997 at age 75.
