Translation: In spite of the international TV antennas, during the afternoon of 28 November 1984, one had to urgently climb to the top of the hill "La Sirena", at the centre of town, to confirm the rumour on the radio of the SARH. There, municipal authorities and politicians heard that Rodolfo Emilio Felix Valdez (with "zeta" as recorded on the birth certificate) "of the white race, born in this place at four o'clock on 22 May" of 1922, had been postulated as a precandidate for governor of Sonora for "the three sectors of the PRI." And then pride grew. Nacozari would no longer be remembered only for copper, mining strikes or for the tributes to Jesús García.
