Biography

French radio and television presenter, actress, singer and author, widely tipped for early stardom, but her career took a more modest course until the release of her autobiography L'Amour dans le sang ("Love in the Blood"; published in 2005), which revealed her HIV status and the effect it had on her career. She made her acting debut at age 16 in the 1985 film Rouge baiser, directed by Vera Belmont.

In March 2007, after selling over 280,000 copies of her book, Charlotte gave approval for its adaptation in the TV movie, L'Amour dans le sang. Produced by Dominique Besnehard for Mon Voisin Productions, it was first broadcast on 23 November 2008 on France 3.

In 2001, she gave birth to her daughter Tara, who is HIV-negative. On 4 November 2003 she underwent a heart transplant. She died of complications from heart surgery on 13 July 2022 at aged 53 in Paris. She was buried in Brittany, at Pléneuf-Val André (she adapted the name of her village to make Valandrey her stage name).
