Georges Urbain

Biography

French chemist, a professor of the Sorbonne, who discovered the element lutetium (atomic number 71) independently in 1907-1908. He studied at the elite École supérieure de physique et de chimie industrielles de la ville de Paris (ESPCI ParisTech). He died on 5 November 1938, aged 66, in Paris.
