Biography
French photographer and publisher who invented the mail franking machine. He was also one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of cameras in France. He edited numerous books on optics and cameras, and on the city of Nice and the Niçois language, in particular by editing a Niçois grammar and Niçois glossary written by André Compan and the Niçois theatre written by Francis Gag and Paul Gordeaux. Philippe Tiranty died on 21 April 1973 in Nice at age 89.
