Biography
Belgian post-impressionist painter born into a family of artists: his father Alphonse Thévenet was a baritone, his brother Louis Thevenet also became a painter, and his sister Cécile Thévenet became a singer.
Initially he was attracted to music and a career as a flutist, but he made a permanent move towards painting in the 1910s. In 1919, he left Belgium to settle in Paris.
He died on 27 March 1937 in Brussels, aged 67.
He is the subject of a monograph by Paul Caso titled Pierre Thévenet: un héritage d'une fraîcheur intacte (Bruxelles, Editeurs d'art associés, 1982).
