Biography
French painter and sculptor, a centenarian, who was one of the most important of a group of abstract artists out of Paris who came into prominence after World War II. His paintings were large and somber, predominately in black and brown. He married Colette Laurens on 24 October 1942. His first one-man show was in 1949 and that same year he designed stage and ballet sets, as well as in 1952. He died on 26 October 2022 at the age of 102 in Nîmes, France.
