Scottish pensioner, age 80 when he fell ill of food poisoning from E-coli 0157 after eating lunch in Wishaw's Old Parish Church Hall on 11/17/1996. He died on 11/26, the first of 21 people to die and 400 to fall ill in the worst outbreak of the poisoning ever seen. The cause of the outbreak was traced to meat cooked from the butcher shop owned by John and Elaine Barr.
