Source Notes
Sy Scholfield cites data from Sharp's wife Elizabeth A. Sharp quoted in "Letters to W. B. Yeats, Volume 1" by Richard J. Finneran (MacMillan/Columbia University Press, 1977), p. 193: "Dear Mr. Yeats, I have just heard from an old friend an item regarding my husband's birth that is valuable in regard to his horoscope. That is, that he was born about two o'clock, on Friday the 12th. September." She had previously written to him stating that his birth was "about midday" when "the bells were ringing and she was told it was because Sebastopol was taken [during the Crimean War]." (p. 176).
