Source Notes

Ashish Seth quotes from On Balance, An Autobiography by Leila Seth (Penguin Books India, 2008), p. 3: "It was 20 October 1930, the day of Diwali. The caves of my maternal grandfather's single-storied bungalow on 14 Jopling Road in Lucknow, set amidst a sprawling garden, were delineared with earthen oil lamps, shining brightly on the darkest night of the year. It was 8 p.m., and much to the joy of my parents, a girl had just been born."
