German hygienist who was head of the Institute for Hygiene and Public Health of the University of Bonn from 1926 to 1946. Selter, who became known as a racial hygienist in the National Socialist (Nazi) state, took part in the Second World War as an army hygienist from 1 September 1939, but was able to occupy his post again in Bonn on 1 March 1940. He died on 28 December 1952 in Bad Godesberg, aged 74.
