Biography
Swiss photographer, painter and graphic artist, he published several monographs including Inseln der Götter: Java, Sumatra, Bali (1941), the result of his almost 11-month journey through Indonesia.
In Zurich from 1928 to 1931 he held exhibitions of painting and joined the Basel artist group “Rot-Blau”. His photos were published in Zürcher Illustrierte, Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung, Paris Match and Life in the 1930s. His assignments during 1938-1939 took him all over Europe and to Indonesia. After about ten years as a reporter he became the first picture editor for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
Schuh married twice and had three children. He died on 29 December 1969 at age 72 in Küsnacht, Zurich.
