Henriette Schrader-Breymann

Biography

German educator, founder of educational institutions, promoter of Froebel education and women's education.

In 1854 she founded the rectory of Watzum, a female educational institution for girls around the age of 7 to 17 / 18 years. The Institute has grown steadily. It enjoyed quickly far beyond the national borders of a high reputation and was becoming a center of propaganda kindergarten. In 1864 a move to the educational institution to Wolfenbüttel, which called itself "New Watzum", after its place of origin "New Watzum" became extremely successful.

On 30 April 1872 married the teacher to lawyer Karl Schrader, with whom she moved to Berlin. There they founded the "Association for Public kindergartens and primary education" and which still exists today, " Pestalozzi-Froebel-house "(PFH), which developed in a short time become one of the most leading Bildungs-/Berufsbildungsanstalt for girls and women and education center for children. Until shortly before her death Henriette Schrader-Breymann actively engaged in developing their all-encompassing socio-educational institution that feels remains committed to the intellectual heritage of its founder.

She died 25 August 1899, Berlin.
