Christoph von Schmid

Biography

German writer of children's stories and an educator. His stories were very popular and translated into many languages. His best known work in the English-speaking world is The Basket of Flowers (Das Blumenkörbchen).

He died on 3 September 1854 in Augsburg.

August 1768 der Frau des domkapitlischen Riesamtschreibers Johann Friedrich Anton Schmid der Erstgeborene in die Arme gelegt und noch am gleichen Tag in der St. Georgskirche von Stadtkaplan Anton Grasmayr auf die Namen Johann Nepomuk Christoph Friedrich getauft."

Translation: At this hour, between one and two o'clock noon on 15 August 1768, Johann Friedrich Anton Schmid's firstborn was placed in the arms of his wife and on the same day in the church of St. Georg was baptized with the names Johann Nepomuk Christoph Friedrich.
