Biography
Italian professor known for creating The Diffusion Vaccine Salvioli (VDS) which was, from 1948 until 1976, an Italian vaccine against tuberculosis. Salvioli made the VDS at the University of Bologna where he was chair of Pediatrics. The VDS was for several decades the Italian competitor of the French tuberculosis vaccine BCG (Bacillus Calmette–Guérin). Salvioli died in Bologna in 1982.
